Other things to note: Oil pump slot should be just before the 11-o'clock position looking at it from the passenger side Pre-position for the base slot is 1-o'clock, final position is 5-o'clock (directly over bolt hole) looking at it from the passenger side. WebFeb 23, 2010 · I've never heard of replacing a timing chain and gears on a 4.0L except when rebuilding it. The 22R Toyota was known to have Chain problems though. The plastic chain runners break then the chain rubs on the inside of the timing cover untill it wears a hole into a water passage and dumps the coolant directly into the oil pan.
