I was cleaning some rust off of it due to it being inside of a barn for who knows how long. I was inspecting the surfaces on it and noticed some rust pitting. You can protect your cylinders by (a) storing them in a retracted position, (b) storing them inside or (c) coating any exposed portion of the rods with heavy grease.
